The Southern Tier New York Catholic will be hosting an all virtual version of the Rescue Project beginning the week of January 5, 2025.

Life can feel like an endless cycle of exhaustion, struggles, and loss. When hardship strikes—a health crisis, natural disaster, or the loss of a loved one—it’s easy to wonder, What’s the point?
But here’s the truth: God cares. From the very beginning, the Trinity created us out of love, knowing we’d struggle and fall. Even then, They had a plan to rescue us.
Through Jesus, who willingly faced Satan, sin, and death, we are offered freedom and hope. His victory on the cross and resurrection isn’t just a story—it’s the power of God to save us.
Yet, 2,000 years later, many of us have forgotten. Religion feels like rules, and we mistake life’s challenges for punishment. But the message remains:
God loves you and wants to restore your hope.
Will you ask Him for help? Will you let Him rescue you?

About Rescue in the Southern Tier
In the Southern Tier of New York, Father Scott Kubinski, Pastor at The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Elmira asked the Men’s Group to organize and hold the sessions to start in Jan 2024. It was so successful, Father Scott asked us to run a summer session! The curse of Upstate NY winter weather and the summer time vacations impacting our schedules and alienated people who desired to participate, and due to health, family obligations, etc., couldn’t leave their homes.
So, we want to try something different! Father Riccardo and the Acts XXIX team has already made the video portion of the series on videos available on their App and on their website. But the feedback from the winter and summer sessions indicated that although the videos were excellent, being able to discuss them and talk about sample questions pertaining to the videos were equally important. To address these concerns, with the blessings of Father Riccardo and the Acts XXIX team, we would like to try during January, and Febuary 2025 an all electronic version of the Rescue Project!
Here’s what we plan:
- Sign-ups will begin immediately through this website below
- By Christmas, we will tabulate the registrations and assign a facilitator for each group. We will make an attempt to schedule you for your first choice time slot. That facilitator will call you to let you know what day of the week and time you will meet along with send you an email with a link to the video(s) which will be discussed at the next conference call. It will be your responsibility to watch the video or videos at your convenience prior to that week’s conference call.
- There are 9 total professionally created Acts XXIX videos in the series, ranging from 32 minutes to 57 minutes, so you can enjoy them with your favorite beverage / snack. It is recommended, especially for videos 3 and 4, that only mature teens and older participate in viewing these videos.
